It’s no surprise that people just don’t like bed bugs, so being bitten can bother you psychologically. Under experimental scenarios, researchers have found that bed bugs can pick up certain bacteria or viruses after feeding on a person that’s already infected. However, they cannot actually transmit those disease organisms to other people. Collect linens and dirty clothes and seal in plastic bags until they can be washed to decrease the chance of spreading bed bugs. Use the highest temperature the fabric can withstand for washing and drying. If an item cannot be washed, dry it for 30 minutes at the highest temperature the item can withstand. Cooperation is important during bed bug treatment. Both owners and occupants will need to assist the pest controller to ensure a successful outcome.

The truth is that it is not entirely necessary to throw away your mattress simply because you had bed bugs and there are other factors that need to be considered. High quality mattress encasements have been tested to be bed bug proof. That is, bed bugs cannot enter, escape, or bite through these encasements.
